AKAYAA ATULE

Akayaa Atule, is a singer, dancer, and drummer from Ghana's Frafra tribe, infuses her music with the vibrant rhythms of Africa. Raised in the Upper East Region as the daughter of a master drummer, she learned to dance and drum almost as soon as she could walk. Now based in San Diego, Akayaa brings her unique flavor of Ghanaian Highlife music to life, blending traditional sounds with her own creative flair, captivating audiences with her energetic performances."

Akayaa founded Bolga Zohdoomah in 2003 and is the director. She also teaches at SDSU and City College.

Workshops are also available and many more.  Akayaa also does solo Performances  such as playing her talking drum, shaker, singing, dancing and Audience participation.

The band Travels all over the Country..  We hope to travel to Europe.

BAND MEMBERS

JACOB RUSSO

 is a multi-genre percussionist from San Diego, California. He earned a Master’s degree in Ethnomusicology from San Diego State University and has studied various musical styles abroad. He currently performs and teaches music in the Southern California area and has toured in and out of the United States.

BOB MATHES

Skilled at playing all styles of music on the saxophone and flute, Bob Mathes has been a popular side man on the southern California music scene for many years. He has toured and recorded with Cande Kayne, Big Joe Turner, Jimmy Witherspoon, Pee Wee Craton, and Bo Diddly. He is also a veteran of multiple European tours with The Bob Long Band, and has spent time as a member of the American Hawaii cruise line crew band.

TYLER FRENCH

is a multi-instrumentalist from San Diego who has played in various local and touring bands for the past 15+ years, covering many different genres including reggae & country. Playing guitar with Akayaa since the summer of 2021, Tyler originally joined as a sub for band member Scott Inumerable.

HARLEY MAGSINO

Harley is a San Diego based multifaceted professional musician with over 25 years of performing and teaching experiences. He first picked up the drums in his childhood church, and eventually switched to guitar. He started his college music program focusing on classical guitar, but eventually discovered his passion for electric and upright bass. He received both his undergraduate and masters degrees from SDSU with an emphasis on jazz studies, which has strongly influenced his contributions to past andcurrent music projects.

Harley has a unique style and versatile technical skillset which, in combination with his passion for discovering new music, enables him to perform a wide range of musical genres, including but not limited to several types of jazz, blues, funk, soul, R&B, hip-hop, pop, rock, country western, experimental, Brazilian folk, and Zimbabwe-funk fusion. The most prolific projects Harley is involved in are Tori Roze and the Hot Mess (Neo-soul/funk/jazz/pop), Stacy Antonel (country/folk), and Lauren Leigh and the Low Keys (Pop/folk/country). When not performing/composing/recording with those groups, Harley can be seen among the many music venues in San Diego any given night at a jazz jam session or as a session player for dozens of active bands. He also frequently performs with large event organizations such asThird Coast Jazz and Lucky Devils Band.

Although performing has been at the forefront of Harley’s music career, he enjoys having a separate musical outlet by teaching students of all ages and levels of experience. He has a steady stream of private students and presents in master classes and music clinics at local colleges.

SCOTT INUMERABLE

has been playing guitar for Bolga Zohdoomah since 2011. Scott was first introduced to the group while playing in a community college jazz ensemble with some of the band’s former members. Scott predominantly plays electric guitar for Bolga, but on occasion, has also played bass, keyboards, and percussion for the group. In addition to playing guitar for Bolga Zohdoomah, Scott is also an active musician in the local San Diego and Los Angeles Music Scenes. Additionally, Scott has completed several national tours, European tours, and frequently performs in Mexico. He has performed with such groups as: Mochilero, the Steady 45’s, Western Standard time, and has performed in the backing bands for several Jamaican artists such as: Keeling Beckford, Derrick Morgan, Keith and Tex, Rudy Mills, and Ken Boothe. Scott has a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University in Art History.

I am a lifelong musician from San Diego California. In 2021 I had my first gig with Akayaa at the San Diego Safari park and have been playing bass with since. Playing with Akayaa has given me an amazing opportunity to learn and grow as a musician.
